බීරළු ශිල්පය දැනට දකුණු පළාතේ ගෘහස්ත මට්ටමෙන් පවතවාගෙන යන කර්මාන්තයකි. මාගාල්ල, වැලිගම සහ දෙවුන්දර යන ප්‍රදේශවල තවමත් බීරළු ගෙතීම ස්වයං රැකියා මට්ටමෙන් පවත්වාගෙන යනු ලබයි. බීරළු නිර්මාණ සඳහා විදේශ සංචාරකයන් මහත් උනන්දුවක් දක්වනු ලබයි, එමෙන්ම මෙම නිර්මාණ වැඩි වශයෙන් භාවිත කරනුයේ ඇද ඇතිරිලි, කොට්ට උර හා කාන්තා ඇදුම් සඳහාය. රටේ පවතින වාතාවරණය හේතුවෙන් මෙවැනි සම්ප්‍රදායක කර්මාන්තවලට ගැටලුකාරී තත්වයන්ට මුහුණ දීමට සිදුවී ඇත. මෙවන් පැරණි කර්මාන්ත රැක ගැනීම අප සැමගේ යුතුකමක් සේ සලකමු.
